Author Facts

Scott Layton, who is an award-winning photographer himself, spent a lot of time in Baltimore during the '80s and '90s. He often made trips to the city to visit friends, museums, and the new ballpark for the Baltimore Orioles, “Camden Yards”, where Cal Ripken played. Struggling to make ends meet as a divorced father, Scott experienced serious career setbacks while working for the U.S. Government due to age discrimination and a false sexual harassment charge.  Feeling that there was a challenge to communicate many of the challenges to being an "ordinary" man, he had a collection of essays about men and family issues published as his first book, The Search for Manhood, published under the name Scott Leighton.
"In all my writings, I try to break through previous misconceptions and get my readers to see life in a new light."
Scott graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, IL in 1964 and received a masters degree from the highly regarded Dept. of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Maryland, College Park.  After his divorce, he went back to a local community college and studied psychology and art for three years under the GI bill before becoming an active abstract artist.
During his career as a computer scientist, Scott has written many articles, newsletters, and award-winning proposals.  He has also been very active in facilitating divorce adjustment and singles support groups.
He currently develops unique training programs on the creative process.
